(Tboung Khmum): A murder case in which a rice business owner and a man were shot dead, after which the gunman shot himself, occurred on March 16, 2026, in Srae Siem Village, Chearot II Commune, Tboung Khmum District, Tboung Khmum Province. The incident reportedly started because of jealousy.
According to additional reports, the gunman was identified as Vann Trakal, 43 years old, living in Srae Siem Village, Chearot II Commune, Tboung Khmum District, Tboung Khmum Province. He was also involved in the rice business.
The two victims were Kim Leang Eng, a 42-year-old woman and rice business owner who lived in the same village (she died at the scene), and Sok Vanndet, a 44-year-old man from Phnom Penh (also died at the scene).
Reports state that the shooting began because the gunman was jealous of the female victim and another man (a police officer at the Ministry of Interior) who were planning to get engaged at the end of March. The rice business owner and the gunman had previously been in a relationship.
However, authorities from the Tboung Khmum Provincial Police are still continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of this brutal murder.
